Canadian CREW Chapters Present: A Fireside Chat with Sonny Kalsi

Join us in an important discussion with the CEO of BentallGreenOak, Sonny Kalsi, as we discuss his intention behind this decision, how BentallGreenOak plans to meet this target and how he hopes other companies will take this initiative even further.

Lauren MacKinnon, CREW Vancouver Board Member and Chief Operating Officer at Glotman Simpson Consulting Engineers, will kick off the event with an introduction of each speaker, followed by a fireside chat between Farrah Khimji, Toronto CREW Board President and Founder of Futura Funds, and Sonny Kalsi about BentallGreenOak’s plans to recruit and build a more diverse and gender balanced workforce and pipeline of future employees.

Sonny Kalsi is the Chief Executive Officer of BentallGreenOak (BGO) and is based in New York City. BGO is a global real estate investment and management platform with approximately $50BN under management.  BGO has 24 offices worldwide (North America, Europe, and Asia) and over 1,300 employees. The firm manages investment strategies and properties in various asset and risk classes. Sonny previously was a Founder of GreenOak Real Estate in 2010 and together with the team grew the business organically to $12BN of assets under management in 10 countries with over 100 employees. 

Before GreenOak, Sonny was Global Co-Head of Morgan Stanley’s Real Estate Investing (MSREI) business and President of the Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds until 2009. At its peak, the platform had approximately $100 billion of assets under management in 33 countries.

Before founding Futura Funds, Farrah worked in a finance capacity for both a large property owner, manager and developer as well as a private equity fund – entities that were both invested in commercial real estate and development assets in Canada and across the world. Farrah is active in the commercial real estate industry where she currently serves as the President for Toronto CREW and Treasurer for NAIOP Greater Toronto.
