CREW CALGARY MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION
NEW MEMBER QUALIFICATIONS:
CREW Calgary offers the following membership categories depending on your type and length of professional commercial real estate experience.
Principal Membership - Members Only events - Voting privileges - Ability to serve on the Board of Directors - Ability to serve as a Committee Chair/Committee Member - Automatic renewal of membership
Requirements of Principal Membership: 1. Applicant must be actively engaged full-time at a professional level for at least five (5) years in a “Commercial Real Estate – Qualified Related Field” (see below) 2. Applicant’s majority of income is derived from commercial real estate related activities 3. Letter of Recommendation 4. Payment of annual dues 5. Approval of application by Board of Directors
Annual Dues: $365 + GST
Candidate Membership - Members Only events - Voting privileges - Ability to serve as a Committee Chair/Committee Member - Automatic renewal of membership
Requirement of Candidate Membership: 1. Applicant must be actively engaged full-time at professional level for at least two (2) years in “Commercial Real Estate – Qualified Related Field” (see below) 2. Applicant’s primary source of income is derived from commercial real estate or qualified related field 3. Letter of Recommendation 4. Payment of annual dues 5. Approval of application by Board of Directors 6. The number of Candidate Members in any specific profession, as determined by the Board of Directors, shall not exceed 25% of the total membership Annual Dues: $365 + GST
Affiliate Membership Professions that relate to, benefit or support commercial real estate including, but not limited to office furniture, roofing, flooring, landscaping, painting and cleaning services. - Members Only events - Voting privileges - Ability to serve as a Committee Chair/Committee Member - Yearly review of membership eligibility
Requirements of Affiliate Membership: 1. Applicant must maintain an established reputation in the business community and commercial real estate industry 2. Have his/her primary professional responsibilities relate to, benefit or support commercial real estate, or whose primary responsibility is selling a physical product related to commercial real estate, 3. Must spend at least 75% of their professional time in a “Commercial Real Estate – Affiliated Related Field” (see below), 4. Have a minimum of five (5) years of full time experience in the commercial real estate industry, 5. The membership would further the purposes of CREW Calgary and benefit its members 6. Letter of Recommendation 7. Payment of annual dues 8. Approval of application by Board of Directors
The number of Affiliate Members in any specific profession, as determined by the Board of Directors, shall not exceed 10% of the total membership. Affiliate companies may appoint an alternate Affiliate Member. Annual Dues: $500 + GST
Commercial Real Estate - Qualified Related Field An individual must be actively engaged in Commercial Real Estate which includes the active involvement in the purchase and sale, leasing and ownership, development, management or construction of Commercial Real Estate.
The term “Commercial Real Estate – Qualified Related Field” shall include, without limitation, accounting, acquisitions and disposition, appraisal, architecture, asset management, construction (including subcontractors), real estate brokerage, consulting, development, engineering, finance, institutional lending, commercial lending, interior design/space planning, investments, land use, urban planning, redevelopment, law, leasing, market research, mortgage banking, mortgage brokerage, property management, commercial real estate sales, syndication, title insurance, and such other fields as may be approved by the Board.
Commercial Real Estate – Affiliate Related Field The term “Commercial Real Estate – Qualified Related Field” shall include the providing or sale of materials, services or products used in the construction, equipment or operation of buildings.
It does not include providing or sale of personal services such life insurance, disability income insurance, personal financial planning, retirement planning or personal counseling.
For purposes of the foregoing, the term “Commercial Real Estate” shall mean income-producing real property and real property held for investment. Services rendered in connection with the sale or transfer of residential property containing four (4) or fewer units shall not be deemed actively engaged in Commercial Real Estate or a Qualified Related Field.
- Dues paid to CREW Calgary are not deductible as charitable contributions for income tax purposes but may be deductible as business expenses.
- New member applications approved in the 4th quarter of the calendar year will be processed for the following calendar year.
