Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative (DRAI) - Discovery Session #4; co-hosted by the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) Green Building Technology Access Centre (GBTAC), Alberta Ecotrust Foundation, and ENBIX.
This informative free event showcases how the MacKimmie Tower at the University of Calgary went from a high-level study to an award-winning deep energy retrofit project.
The University of Calgary is working toward becoming carbon neutral by 2050, meaning it aims to balance the amount of carbon it emits with the amount it removes from the atmosphere. To support this goal, they deep retrofitted the MacKimmie Tower and were able to reduce its energy use by 80%.
With a group of panelists from DIALOG and the University of Calgary this session will discuss how a deep retrofit goes beyond standard upgrades and takes a whole-building approach to optimize how a building performs, to reduce its energy consumption, emissions and operating costs.
Note: There will be an optional informative tour hosted by the U of C and DIALOG after the Discovery Session.
