Join CREW Calgary for an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of UCalgary’s School of Architecture, Planning & Landscape (SAPL). Members will gain an insider’s perspective on how this innovative office-to-education conversion is reshaping the future of downtown learning, collaboration, and city building.

Located in the heart of Calgary’s downtown core, SAPL’s new home represents far more than a relocation — it is a bold investment in the future of the city. The project transforms a former office tower into a vibrant academic hub for architecture, planning, and landscape design students, bringing creative energy, research, and public engagement directly into the urban environment it studies. The move is part of Calgary’s broader downtown revitalization strategy, turning underutilized office space into active, community-focused destinations.

During this special tour, attendees will explore the unique spaces that support hands-on learning and innovation, including design studios, research labs, fabrication spaces, and community-focused gathering areas. Guests will also hear about the rich history of SAPL, which was originally established in 1971 as the Faculty of Environmental Design and has long been recognized for its interdisciplinary approach to shaping the built environment.
