Annual CREW Volunteer Night at the Making Changes Association a Smashing Success

Tuesday, Jan 31, 2017

On Wednesday January 18, a great group of CREW Calgary members put their hands and hearts together at the Annual CREW Calgary Volunteering Night at the Making Changes Association. Our 16 volunteers started the evening getting to know each other (and in some cases, re‐connecting!) with light refreshments, followed by a tour of both the Walk‐in Closet and My Best Friend’s Closet.

Attendees learned about the organizations and services they offer as well as their impact on our community. Both stores provide clothing and accessories, along with a personal style consultant, to referred women and teens experiencing financial barriers: an incredible mandate!

The CREW Calgary split into two teams to cover off each site. We sorted, hung and steamed clothes while we connected and enjoyed many laughs. It was a great feeling to give back to the community knowing our efforts would result in a smiling woman on teen feeling better prepared for a new chapter in their lives, secure in the knowledge that they are valued and supported in our City.

As a reminder, CREW members are encouraged to donate gently used items throughout the year to Making Changes. They are always needed and appreciated (remember, donated items can include clothing, outerwear, shoes and accessories). Most events we host have a donation box available.

It was an amazing opportunity to network in a relaxed environment and give back to organizations that make an impressive impact on Calgarians in need. Well done, ladies!
