ALANNAREMINGTON 0200I am delighted to serve as the CREW Calgary President in 2017.  I was introduced to the CREW organization by Gillian Lawrence in 2009.  Upon joining I became a member of the Education and Events Committee which is responsible for the planning of CREW’s diverse event offerings.  In 2013 Emily Martinson and I headed up this Committee as Co-Chairs, and with the support and hard work of Committee Members we were able to add two member events to the CREW lineup; the Speed Networking Evening and the Making Changes Volunteer Night.  My years of service on the Education and Events Committee provided me the background and familiarity with the organization to serve as Secretary on the Board of Directors for 2014 and 2015.  On CREW’s board I have had the opportunity to also serve as the Liaison to Making Changes, the Sponsorship Committee, and Marketing.  My involvement with CREW’s Board and Committee’s has helped strengthen relationships with women in my industry, and has exposed me to a broad spectrum of leadership and management styles which in turn enhances my own skill sets.  I wholeheartedly believe in the value of CREW Calgary as it has both enriched and broadened my network, and been a source of tremendous professional growth.  My involvement in the CREW Network as a delegate and President-Elect this past year has opened my eyes to the opportunities and learnings offered beyond our own chapter.  The CREW Network Leadership Certificate program has been one of those opportunities that has developed my negotiation skills in particular.

I began my career at Remington Development Corporation in 2007, as a Planning Assistant in our Land Department.  Over the past 9 years I have progressed to my current role as the Manager of Planning, responsible for due diligence preparation, concept planning, land use, subdivision and engineering approvals.  A majority of my work involves the coordination of multidisciplinary project teams throughout the land development process; demanding a high level of operational and organizational skills.  I feel privileged to put my skills and passion to work for the CREW organization.
