CREW Winter Leadership Summit Recap

Caroline Abougoush (President-Elect) and Tara Steell (Past President) had the opportunity and pleasure as CREW Calgary delegates to attend the 2017 CREW Network Winter Leadership Summit in Hollywood, California this February. These summits serve as CREW Network’s “leadership laboratories” where delegates receive leadership training and participate in Network association business.
Highlights include:
Canadian Chapters Delegate Meeting: Caroline and Tara met with the delegates from CREW Vancouver, CREW Montreal, CREW Toronto, and CREW Edmonton. At this meeting distinctly Canadian issues were discussed, such as the exchange rate, chapter building, sponsorship and the 2017 Spring Leadership Summit in Toronto. There was excitement around the CREW Network Foundation and Canada Revenue Agency acceptance of the foundation as a charitable organization, with all Canadian contributions allocated directly to the Annual Canadian Scholarship Fund.
CREW Network 2017 Council and Business Meeting: The new 2017 CREW Network Board and 2017 Committees were introduced, including our own Gillian Lawrence serving on the Network Board and Tara Steell serving on the CREW Network Foundation Board. Chapter delegates shared triumphs and challenges with their governance and programming.
Dr. Valerie Young, author of The Secret Thoughts of Successful Women: Why Capable People Suffer from the Impostor Syndrome and How to Thrive in Spite of It, delivered a two-part workshop on the Imposter Syndrome and what strategies can be used to cover come this programming.
We also had a chance to hear directly from the new CEO of CREW Network, Wendy Mann.
Hollywood Boulevard and its star power was a great backdrop for conversation and connections with CREW Network Delegates from across North America.
