Our latest Member Spotlight is focused on Caireen Hanert of McMillan LLP. Enjoy!

About Caireen:

Caireen is a partner with McMillan LLP, a national law firm, in its Advocacy and Corporate Restructuring Groups, and a trusted advisor to many major commercial clients. She has been a professional advocate for over 16 years in Calgary and loves her job – at least most days! She enjoys working with her clients to resolve their legal issues and advocating for them if or when they need to seek redress through the courts. Her primary goal is to develop a strategy that best meets her client’s business objectives and that will result in practical solutions to complicated problems as efficiently as possible.

Caireen’s practice is focused in two areas – corporate/commercial litigation and corporate insolvency litigation.  On the corporate/commercial side, she works with a variety of clients and provides advice on a whole range of matters, from risk management (how to avoid litigation in the first place), energy and resource matters, securities issues, shareholder disputes and breach of contract matters.  She also handles a range of mandates related to commercial real estate – such as lien matters, landlord/tenant disputes, and construction litigation.  On the restructuring side, she advises creditors and landlords who find themselves dealing with an insolvent debtor or tenant.

Opportunities she has encountered through CREW:

Caireen was introduced to CREW Calgary by Eve Renaud, a former President, and is grateful for that introduction.  She has met and connected on a professional and personal level with so many wonderful and talented women, all working to expand their networks and give support to our members in various ways.

CREW Calgary has given her the opportunity to be involved in a mature organization dedicated to championing and supporting women with their professional and personal goals.  She has recently joined the Membership Committee and looks forward to continuing her involvement for years to come.

And we ask her. . . which role would you like to play in a movie, or which actress would you want to play you?

"This one stumped me.  I like your suggestion of Helen Hunt, as I love the characters she’s played in movies and on television, but it appeals to me mostly because she seems like the type of person who would be fun to get to know on set!"
