Deborah MooersToday we are spotlighting Debbie Mooers, who is Senior Manager, Commercial Mortgages with RBC.  Debbie has been a member of CREW Calgary since 2015 and is a fairly constant presence at CREW Calgary events.  She loves coming and having fun with her CREW, and is impressed by the variety of the events organized by our excellent Events Committee.

A typical day for Debbie starts at the gym.  Her workouts are important to her, so she makes it her first priority.  If only we were all so dedicated!

Once she gets to work, Debbie analyzes commercial mortgage transactions, bids on deals, meets with clients, and advocates for loan approvals.  She has worked with some of her clients for about 15 years over several transactions, which has given her a great deal of insight into their business needs and makes her an excellent banker to work with.

Some of Debbie’s more memorable projects include her involvement in the construction of two major affordable housing developments in Calgary.  As we can all imagine, those projects were very time consuming, but Debbie derived a lot of pleasure from being involved in project that were important to the community and to individuals who are less fortunate.

Debbie is always interested in meeting new people at our events.  She enjoys hearing about different commercial real estate careers, hearing about different perspectives, and meeting members over a range of ages.

At the end of next month, Debbie is retiring from my commercial mortgage career.  She plans to take her first summer off in more years than she cares to remember.  In the fall, she will be attending Mount Royal to take Floral Design in order to begin career No. 2 in 2019.

Now for the fun question – who would she cast to play her in a movie?

Debbie chose Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and for a very interesting reason.  Apparently, when good news comes her way, she’s been known to break into the “Elaine” character and do a crazy dance!

Thanks for your support of CREW, Debbie… we’re happy that you’re one of us!
