1. What do you enjoy most about working in the Commercial Real Estate Industry?
What’s not to like about an industry that has so many different careers and individuals who all still fit under the same umbrella? The nice thing about people in the Commercial Real Estate Industry is chatting with them and getting to see their passion for what they do. You can meet so such different individuals, yet you still share a like-minded enthusiasm for commercial real estate.

2. How has CREW brought value to your career?
Joining CREW in the early stages of my career was such a great choice. I have met so many wonderful individuals that welcomed me into and showed me the many different facets of the Commercial Real Estate Industry. It was so nice to have met like-minded, driven individuals to build not only professional but personal relationships with. Being on a committee, becoming a chair of a committee, and later joining the Board provided me (and continue to give me) leadership tools, community feel, industry knowledge, and personal and professional development that I would not have received without being a member of CREW Calgary.

3. What are three reasons you would encourage a colleague to join CREW?
The people, the events, the knowledge. CREW Calgary knows how to create a welcoming community for those in the Commercial Real Estate Industry. The events are different, creative, and entertaining. They provide a great platform for compatible individuals to get together to network, to gain more industry knowledge and expertise, and all the while supporting the development of the CREI.

4. How are you positively adapting to the work-from-home and work/life challenges presented by COVID-19 measures?
COVID-19 has become the biggest antagonist of 2020. There are many negatives, which we all have experienced, but also many positives have come with it. I have regained my work-life balance that was slipping away from me quickly. My life was happening in hyper-speed and I was not taking the time to appreciate those closest around me. It has taught me to slow down and really appreciate myself, my loved ones, my work, and my free time.

5. Share an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?
Well 2020 was unfortunately not the year for me to cross items off my bucket list, which mainly involved travelling, but it was a time to find my own pleasures closer to home. During our spring cleaning, my husband and I stumbled across an old, dusty pasta maker and started making fresh pasta for ourselves. “Italian Fridays” in our house have reignited a love for cooking that I seemed to have lost. Now I am cooking up a storm again and cannot wait to host our large family and friends again with all of the delicious meals we’ve been conjuring up.
