Kimberly Jensen is a co-chair on the membership committee as well as the founder and Principal of Choice Contracting.  She started Choice Contracting 10 years ago with the intention of building a relationship based general contracting company.  Having worked in the industry for 10 years prior, she believed she could bring a simplified and honest approach to a male dominated and over complicated industry.  She has successfully built a large client base of repeat customers that appreciate her refreshingly organized, streamlined and sincere approach to what used to be a stressful and overwhelming endeavor.

1. What do you enjoy most about working in the Commercial Real Estate Industry?

I love that I am always learning something new.  I might be working on a project with new products, new people, a new building with new technology or learning about something that is just new to me.  It is never dull.

2. How has CREW brought value to your career?

CREW has provided me with the opportunity to make so many great connections with other women working within the industry.  As a result, I have an amazing network of intelligent, knowledgeable, educated, experienced people that I feel I can call on at any time.

3. What are three reasons you would encourage a colleague to join CREW?

  1. My top three reasons that I would recommend joining CREW are:

A)      Increasing your network

B)      Educational (and fun) events

C)      Access to contacts and resources throughout Canada and the US

4. How are you positively adapting to the work-from-home and work/life challenges presented by COVID-19 measures?

The initial shut down in 2020 was terrifying for me and the future of my business.  Like many small businesses, we didn’t know if we would be able to make it through.  It really brought our little team together as we brainstormed, trimmed and scraped hoping to get through to the other side.

On the personal side, it was tough mentally for my teenagers to have their sports, school and personal lives put on hold, but we enjoyed more family suppers and time together than we ever had.  That part was really great.

5. Share an interesting or little-known fact about yourself?

My favorite hobbies after watching my kid’s sports are running and skiing.  Both notably individual sports as I am incredibly uncoordinated and rarely come back from a ski weekend without a funny story and war wounds.  Oh… so many stories!
