Join the Adaptive Reuse conversation.
CREW proudly presents an educational evening with local architecture firms to discuss adaptive reuse. Adaptive reuse refers to the process of reusing an existing building for a purpose other than which it was originally built or designed for.
The series provides an excellent opportunity to connect with local architects and other industry professionals. Our line-up of great speakers includes Reid Henry, President of cSpace King Edward, Iwanski Architecture and McKinley Burkart.
The architect consultant of cSPACE will join President Reid Henry to speak on the adaptive reuse of the historic King Edward School building as the arts incubator and creativity hub we now know as cSPACE King Edward.
Diane Cassidy, Director of Interior Design, and Bao-Nghi Nhan, Director of Architecture, of McKinley Burkart will share their story behind the design of one of Calgary’s historical landmark and former mattress factory, now known as Simmons Building in the vibrant East Village.
Additionally, Iwanski Architecture will explore the transformation of educational buildings. Many of Alberta's current schools were designed when education was viewed quite differently. With their vision to convert existing facility into 21st century learning environment, John Iwanski and Elke Goebel are leading the renovations of Westmount Charter School Sir William van Horne Campus.
Fork + Farm will cater the evening, serving delicious canapes and drinks.
Registration closes March 8th, so don't delay! No late registrations or cancellations will be permitted.
We look forward to seeing you there!
